Held within the beautiful grounds of Play Close Park Melton Mowbray and organised by A-ME Events Management in conjunction with the Melton Mowbray Town Estate this was the inaugural Melton Pageant of Motoring 2025.
With glorious sunshine, pre booked exhibitor numbers high and varied attractions for the whole family the day was set to be a winner from the get-go. This is a real family show with bandstand entertainment, sports cars, trophy presentations, refreshment outlets, fair ground rides for the kids and for all those requiring a little retail therapy… craft and trade stalls to ease that loose change from your pockets.
As I entered the showground there was a good number of marshals promptly directing exhibitors, traders and food vendors to their allocated stand for the day. This was very well organised and to be expected from A-ME Events Management as they have many years of large motoring event management experience under their belt. As I pull onto our stand for the day, Neil is already there with his gleaming ‘69 MG Roadster, followed by Derek and Marilyn in their stainless steel bright annealed bodied Robin Hood 7. As I pull into the middle of the stand and take my position, I notice Graham and Elaine pull into the showground in their 5.7 litre V8 Dax Cobra and head straight towards me and pull swiftly alongside.
A quick stroll around the showground found many familiar faces polishing and prepping for that all important judges trophy recognition. Fingers crossed!! With the opening of the show only moments away and so many beautiful prestige, sports cars, classics and American trucks on display there was something here for every self confirmed petrol head.
On the bandstand Footloose were setting up, doing mic and sound checks for the day. Initially pencilled in for 3 sets throughout the day, these guys went above and beyond, performing endlessly throughout the day with hits from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Hats off to them, they did a fabulous job. Well done.
Early afternoon our whole stand were requested by the organisers to attend the presentations at the bandstand at 2.00 pm. With awards for Best Club Stand, Best Classic Commercial Vehicle, Best Individual Display Vehicle and Best in Show up for grabs. People were starting to gather in anticipation. As the trophies were unwrapped and the awards presented, it was an absolute honour for all the hard work that everyone had put into prepping their cars on our stand to be recognised by the judges and to have “The Dax Sporting Club” voted Best Club Stand within the show.
Held within the beautiful grounds of Kimbolton Castle, Cambridgeshire and organised by the Rotary Club of Kimbolton Castle in partnership with the Sporting Bears, this is Kimbolton’s annual Country Fayre & Charity Car Show.
Over the years the event has raised in excess £400,000 for local and national charities. With new attractions year on year this event continues to grow, with the organisers reporting a turnout of around one thousand cars exhibiting throughout the grounds. This is a real family show with main arena entertainment, a live stage, prestige and sports car ‘Dream Rides’, refreshment outlets, fair ground, craft and trade stalls with many stall holders returning annually to the event.
Throughout the showground the ‘Sporting Bears’ were offering a very impressive line-up of prestige, classics and sports cars to tempt visitors on a ‘Dream Ride’ of their choice. Within the main arena Dangerous Steve - Stunt Entertainer performed his stunts and tricks to the applause of the crowd. The Dangerous Steve Show is a Non-Stop, thrill a minute arena attraction featuring Quad Bike Stunts, Motorbike Tricks and Steve's Unique One wheeler motorbike with his amazing upside down roll, the only person to perform this daring stunt. It's a real crowd pleaser!
For those in search of a little retail therapy the craft and trade fayre offered endless opportunities to lighten your pockets of loose change, as did the various food outlets offering fresh baked pies, pastries and pasties.
Thanks to the ongoing dedication and efforts of the Rotary Club of Kimbolton Castle and the Sporting Bears, the event was an outstanding success and is well worth pencilling into your diary for 2026.
